Robots in disguise

In a blast from the past, Hollywood has decided to recycle once again. This time they're reaching back into my childhood and resurrecting one of my favorites: Transformers. I'm an 80s baby so for me, back in the day, it was He-Man, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, G.I. Joe and Transformers. Those were the toys and cartoons that every little boy was obsessed with.

The problem is, from the glimpse I've gotten of the movie from the AP, it looks dull, dark and pseudo-futuristic. I suppose the movie had to be "modernized" somehow but it doesn't feel like Transformers to me.

Shia LeBeouf seems to take this movie seriously, which I'm sure means it's gonna suck. I wonder which 80s cartoon/toyline will be exported to the silver screen next? Do I smell a live-action My Little Pony in the works?
