Week 6 big matchups in college football

The upcoming weekend in college football is must see TV for fans, and for some of the NCAA’s Super Power’s it is a must win. Texas vs. Oklahoma, LSU vs. Florida, and Kentucky vs. South Carolina are three of the big games on the schedule. All three games carry heavy implications on the team’s respective conference standings as well as the National Title picture.

The Red River Shootout is one of the biggest rivalry games in football. After suffering upsets last weekend, both Texas and Oklahoma are still in contention to win the Big 12 South and have a chance to make a BCS bowl game. The loser of Saturday’s game will be hoping to make the Cotton Bowl. This is not where either one of these Super Powers wanted to end up at. Oklahoma and Texas are very similar in team makeup, both have young QB’s both have strong defenses, and both have struggled to keep players out of off the field problems. A win on Saturday will be a big push in the right direction for either program or put them right back into the title hunt.

Oklahoma pulls out a gritty performance and wins the game.

LSU struggled during the first half against Tulane last weekend. However, after a few quick adjustments the Tigers were back to playing at a championship level. Once again the Tigers had an outstanding performance and destroyed the Green Wave of Tulane. Florida is the defending national champions, and last week they took a bump in losing at home Auburn. Despite losing key players to graduation last season, the Gators are still a talented team that has plenty of big game experience. However, it is doubtful that any of the Gators are ready for the speed and strength of LSU’s offense and defense.

Florida will fight hard, but LSU will win this game and be in the driver’s seat to win the SEC title.

Kentucky and South Carolina, typically a game that no one would watch, is now a marquee matchup and the SEC East Title is in the balance. Kentucky is undefeated, and Woodson is one of the best quarterbacks in the country. Steve Spurrier finally has the Gamecocks as serious contenders for an SEC title. The Old Ball Coach always has a trick up his sleeve and is willing to pull out all the stops to impress a crowd on national television. UK is a talented team, but they are young and the exposure they will receive from playing on a Thursday night will be an entirely new experience for them. Woodson will need to stay composed and lead his team by example.

South Carolina and Steve Spurrier are made for primetime the Gamecocks get the win, and are one step closer to an SEC East Title.
