Zimbabwe: No bread, no milk and no hope

If you've been keeping an eye on the situation in Zimbabwe, I'm sure that your heart goes out to the poor people suffering under one of the most severe cases of governmental mismanagement in recent history.

But I'm not only interested in tarring Mugabe with the evil dictator party line. Although I firmly believe he is selfish, old, arrogant, abusive and greedy, in the end, Mugabe does not act alone. There are people within his party that support him, and in fact he has the support of other African heads of states, something I find to be tragically disturbing.

All of the politics going on in Zimbabwe truly mean little though, to those who are without bread, water and other basic necessities. How does any world leader justify this state of affairs? And on top of that, how can Mugabe, in good conscience, pack off to Portugal for the EU-Africa summit while his people starve and suffer? I'm quite sure the money that will spent on his travel and stay could be put to better use.

Reuters just released a report that the Zimbabwean central bank has raised interest rates to 800 percent. Yikes.
