Got tax rebate? - 1.18.08 Editorial Budget

If you’ve been watching any of the cable news networks, then you know that the big buzz word going around is: RECESSION. Lou Dobbs likes to toss that one out there a lot. Oh yes, economists are crying that the sky is falling and politicians are saying, “Subprime this, subprime that.” So, with the economy possibly sinking lower than President Bush’s approval ratings, the president is readying an “economic shot in the arm” in the form of tax relief. That means that us po’ folk will be getting some money in the bank! Don’t worry about how we’re going to pay for this give-away with a trillion-dollar deficit hanging over our heads, just buy yourself a MacBookAir and be happy.

Gee Mr. Senator, I'd love to go spend my tax rebate at the mall to help stimulate the economy, but I can't afford to get there with the rising gas prices!

How come no one is asking the question will we have to pay taxes on the $600 as earned income for the 2008 tax year?

The problem with the economy is good paying jobs are on the decline. Why? American businesses have been closing factories and moving them outside the country. Our U.S. government was bought out to allow this to happen, which is why the trade deficit has grown every year. You are expected to spend your tax rebate on products made in China, which will help the economy in China, or spend it on gasoline and help the oil companies set another record profit year (over 39 billion profit for just one oil company last year). Our government already has a deficit of over 9 trillion dollars, whats a few billion more going to hurt.

Tax rebates are a good way to help people open funded bank accounts if the funds can be deposited electronically into their bank accounts. Tax rebates are good for the economy.
